Children…
Lost, carefree, empty, innocent, loving, playful, stubborn, ignorant and many times foolish are words we could use to describe our kids. They are blessings from God to parents. Even though many times they seem like God’s way of punishing us.
Today is a day we would take out some time to thank God for each of our kids. And remind ourselves what they represent to God, humanity and we their parents.
What God Has to Say About Your Children
1. Psalm 127:3-5 ESV – “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord , the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.“
2. Psalms 139:13-14 NLT – “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.“
3. Psalm 8:2 MSG – “Nursing infants gurgle choruses about you; toddlers shout the songs That drown out enemy talk, and silence atheist babble.“
These are just a few of many things God has to say about the kids He gave you. He gave them to you knowing that the responsibility would be too much for you to handle and also promised to be with you to guide and encourage you every step of the journey. Don’t ever lose sight of that. Hebrews 13:5 reiterates God’s promise some time ago – “…I will never leave you nor forsake you.” God was talking to you and I, throughout the good and tough times of parenting, he would remain there with you.
Psalm 127:1 says that except that Lord builds a house, the labourers all labour invain. Only with his(God’s) help can you start and finish this home building project you started. Depend on His grace daily, because you will really need it.
Enjoy today and everyday with your children. Look them in the eye and say, “No matter what happens today or tomorrow, it will never change how much I love you.”
